After hearing Americans say that Burger & Co. tasted similar to In-N-Out Burger, the very popular California based burger chain that has since moved its locations beyond Cali, I knew I had to try their burgers out for myself. For the most part, I was happy with what I found.

Burger & Co.’s setup is very similar to In-N-Out Burger’s: They use quality ingredients, cut their fries in-house, grind their beef in-house, and have a menu with few items that they specialize in. Burger & Co. has some items that In-N-Out Burger doesn’t have: a veggie burger, a BBQ pulled pork sandwich, beer, and three different types of wings.

Burger & Co.’s burgers did taste similar to In-N-Out’s; they were delicious. Burger & Co. is a quality fast-food burger joint. They use 100% beef, correctly season the meat to give it a nice flavor, use fresh ingredients, and include a good amount of tasty homemade sauce in their burgers. There’s nothing Taiwanese about their burgers; they’re pure American-style. The Taiwanese owner, who spoke perfect English with no accent, must have been born and raised in America or spent most of his life there. Well, this explains why he has done it correctly. The only item that I tried that I wasn’t completely happy with was their milkshake, which is talked about in the picture section. Even though their burgers were delicious, for a fast-food joint, even if it is quality, it’s overpriced, especially since fries aren’t included with a burger. In-N-Out Burger does it the same way, but is much cheaper (In-N-Out Burger menu): A cheeseburger and fries at In-N-Out Burger costs about NT$130. The same thing at Burger & Co. costs double: NT$260. A Double-Double at In-N-Out costs NT$110, but a Double Stacker at Burger & Co. costs NT$270. OK, I understand that Burger & Co. is an independent joint, so their margin of expenses accounts for why they have to charge more than In-N-Out in order to turn a profit, but the prices are still too high even after accounting for the cost margin differentials.

For those wanting to relive their In-N-Out Burger experiences; see what a burger similar to In-N-Out taste like if you’ve never had In-N-Out; or just want to try a delicious, quality, American fast-food burger, Burger & Co. is a great place to fulfill such needs. I just don’t know how often you would want to revisit, though, given the prices. Even though it’s the closest good burger joint to my abode, I imagine that I’ll rarely go back or not return — after having enough material for my review — because of the prices.

Vegetarian options: Handmade Veggie Burger (NT$180), Fries (NT$80 – NT$150), Quinoa Salad (NT$200), and Milkshakes (NT$150)
