Wagyu Burger opened up a few months ago. They use 100% wagyu beef (special Japanese-style beef, go Google it yourself to find out more. I'll just say here that it's super tender and premium beef). Their establishment is mostly a takeaway shop because there is only about a six-person standing table in their shop for on-sight dining. As I was utilizing that space with a friend, eating our delicious burgers, we saw many people coming and going to pick up their phoned-in orders. They're already popular and established after being open for a few months.
They have a glass barrier so that customers can witness their precise preparation and cooking method; the highest-quality places don't hide anything, rather, they display their attention to detail and excellence. Everything can be seen: forming of the wagyu beef patties, cooking of the patties, grilling of the onions that they add to every burger, deep-frying of the fries, applying of the sauce and lettuce, and the packaging of their quality food for takeaway orders.
Their menu is specialized: single or double burger and three different sauces (original, Sichuan, and wasabi). They also provide Keto-style burgers where lettuce replaces the bread bun on the top and bottom of the burger. Fries and salad cost NT$40 each, but only NT$20 each when ordered with a burger, which I'm assuming everyone is doing because it's the reason to go there. But I guess some takeaway orders might want to order extra of aforementioned items that aren't attached to a meal, so there is a reason for the difference of pricing. Again, with drinks they keep it simple: Heinekin beer, Buckskin beer, green tea, Coke, or Sprite (self-service water is available for on-sight diners).
Their burgers aren't served in your typical-Western fashion. I'm open-minded to things of all nature and don't judge, label, or blah blah stuff like most humans on planet Earth, so I can recognize that their burgers are great regardless of my background or ethnicity. The burger is served in a simple fashion without all the extras and gimmicks, but that in no way means it isn't a gourmet burger—it is. The burger consists of a bun, a wagyu beef patty, grilled onions (some of them are mixed in with the patty and some separate), lettuce, and a cream-mayonnaise-like sauce that comes in a scoop on top the patty (don't worry, it isn't that disgustingly sweet Taiwanese-style mayo). The sauce is more like thick whipped cream that goes very nicely with the flavor of beef. The idea of the sauce is to compliment the premium taste of the wagyu beef instead of hijacking the taste-experience. When you're beef tastes like heaven, you want it to be the main flavor coming through to your taste buds; just like you wouldn't add much to a premium steak--just some sea salt. In this regard, you'll find that each sauce choice is very subtle; for example, if you're getting the wasabi or Sichuan sauce, don't be expecting the flavor to be powerful. As I said, the idea is to compliment the premium beef's taste and not overpower it. Therefore, each sauce choice will not be a hugely different experience, but I will say that the Sichuan sauce—although still subtle—is the most apparent sauce choice at being registered by your palate. The grilled onions really go great with the beef and the sauce. Then some lettuce is added to go along with the flavor. I don't recommend getting wasabi because not only can't you even taste a hint of wasabi, but the sauce doesn't taste as good as their original or Sichuan--Sichuan is my favorite.
Viewing my pictures of what your burger will look like in reality when you are served it, doesn't look like anything special, in fact it may look bad. (Your burger won't look how Wagyu Burger's or the sold-out bloggers' market it in their fabricated photos, so please don't be disappointed when you receive your burger in real life. I've always been about taking pictures of food in order to convey what it looks like in reality, what customers actually receive.) But it's all about the flavor and not a gimmicky-look. After you take your first bite, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Watch out for the tender beef's juiciness (always the sign of a gourmet burger). My friend didn't take heed of this and ended up wearing it all over his shirt like it was some kind of new high-end cologne. (Now you can wear the all-new Wagyu Beef Cologne and be sure to have all the ladies flocking to dance with you at the hottest nightclubs in the city! The beefy aroma will draw in only the finest women; women who recognize that a real man should smell like beef. The sophisticated and highly-intelligent female longs for the whiff of beefiness on a beefy man at all times: that first beefy-morning kiss, that afternoon beefy make-out session, that champagne-day-ending-beefy smooch that exclusively comes from a closing-the-deal type of man. Let the beefiness be all pervasive and invigorate your game, and overall prowess, from this day forward--for beef's sake! But I digress.) The burger may look basic, ordinary, or even bad, but the powerful, juicy flavor of their wagyu beef patty—along with the few aforementioned items in the burger—will surely tantalize your taste buds and immediately send you into burger heaven (if such a place exists; I think Jesus mentioned it in his Sermon of the Mount speech).
In closing, you have to taste it to believe it, and you have to appreciate it for what it is. Their system is as consistent as Din Tai Fung's (鼎泰豐), which is very important to mention when so many Taipei restaurants can't be consistent to save their life. This is also something that needs to be established in order to hold my golden rating.
