Texas Rangers is a nice American-style fried chicken option in Taipei. It's a Taiwanese restaurant that only exists in Taiwan, but they replicate American-style fried chicken very nicely. Unlike KFC, Texas Rangers' fried chicken isn't too oily; you won't leave Texas Rangers coughing on oil, which I have done on all of my five-lifetime visits to KFC. Texas Rangers keeps their oil frying at a hot enough temperature so that the oil doesn't seep into the chicken, avoiding the greasy-mess scenario.
Texas Rangers also has a fairly nice roast chicken. However, 21 Century's (21世紀風味館) roast chicken is definitely superior to Texas Rangers because it contains more flavor and juiciness throughout the whole chicken -- getting right down to the bone; whereas, Texas Rangers' roast chicken's flavor is secluded to the skin and very top layer of the chicken.
21 Century must have a more professional roasting system going on. I will always choose 21 Century over Texas Rangers for roast chicken in the future. Actually, I'd rather choose 21 Century for fried chicken as well. Texas Rangers is good, but 21 Century is better.
Texas Rangers also has some nice fast-food side items: hot wings, spicy poppers, fried gizzard, fried liver, onion rings, cross cut fries, pinto beans, etc. I was only disappointed with their chicken burgers (KFC beats them here) and their fish and chips (Dazzler's has the best in Taipei). The side items is where Texas Rangers beats 21 Century. Not Texas Rangers' onion rings though: They're inedible pieces of slimy grease.
At the time of this review, they have two locations: their first location opened up in Tianmu, and there is another location in the Q Square food court on the B2 floor.
Vegetarian options: As one would guess, nothing but a few side items, and a smart vegetarian doesn't go to a restaurant if all they can eat are side items -- I only list main meals in this section.

Ten Taiwanese took a blind taste test and Texas Rangers Fried Chicken and Two Peck (派克雞排) came out on top.
A cute video about a family's visit to Texas Rangers, where they document one of the combo meals: Texas Rangers year of [the] monkey couples combo (NT$500).
