Take Out, the burger place with an ambiguous name in both English and Chinese. They named themselves Take Out because they have a dedicated take-out window where customers can order from outside (not a car drive-through, only pedestrian) without having to enter and save NT$30 for ordering takeout. My friend Wei (翁辰瑋) first took me to Take Out. He's a talented Taiwanese photographer. You can check out his photography on this FB page: 安木。Ainwoods.
They make some tasty burgers and have unique burger creations that really work. They kind of remind me of Selfish Burger, but are better because I liked every single one of Take Out's burger creations. My two favorite burgers of theirs were: Curry Croquette Burger and Super American Style Burger. They also have a nice fried chicken burger, a legit fish burger, and even a yummy vegan burger with a hash browns patty (it contains spicy mayonnaise, which is delicious, but if it's real mayo, keep in mind that it's actually vegetarian and not vegan -- I didn't ask).
The only reason I didn't give Take Out a 5-star rating is because their beef patties aren't big enough to thoroughly please me. I found this decision hard to make and jumped back and forth from a 4-star and 5-start rating a few times in my mind. I also don't like how fries don't come free with their burgers, but their burgers aren't as expensive as most places, and they do have some nice combo options where if you were going to purchase a drink anyway, the fries would almost end up being free.
They're the first burger place that I've ever been to in my life (at the time of this review) that makes an excellent espresso based coffee; I enjoyed a cappuccino on several visits and it was made well every single time: strong-tasting enough (wouldn't mind if it was a smidge more bitter), mixed well giving it a good texture, served at a perfect temperature so that it could be drank upon arrival, came in a nice shallow mug, and possessed nice foam artwork. They have a real espresso machine and know how to use it. Since they serve a nice cup of espresso based coffee, they can legitimately be considered a burger cafe and not just a burger joint. It's so nice to enjoy a cappuccino with my burger; I know, it's not a typical combination one would partake of, but I almost never drink soda due to how poisonous it is and I don't like beer. I guess it shows how much of a coffee nut I am.
I thought all their deep-fried side items were excellent. However, they don't try to bring your side items and burger at different times, which results in one of your items getting cold before you can consume it; this happened on both times I ordered side dishes with my burger -- very unfortunate. Maybe if you tell them to space out your plates, they might oblige and do it properly.
Vegetarian options: Vegan Burger (NT$155) [If the mayonnaise on it is real, it's vegetarian, not vegan], Salad (NT$110).
