*UPDATE: The store owners of Notch had a difference of opinion, so now half of the Notch stores turned into Oromo Cafe. Nothing was changed other than the name, so both places are great.
I first visited their location near Main Station about two years ago. When I think back I remember their coffee being good, and their decor uniquely cool. Then not too long ago, a friend and I noticed their location, that's about a six-minute walk south of Xinyi Anhe MRT Station (now Oromo Cafe), after our evening meal. I forgot about my Main Station Notch experience, but their sign looked very familiar. The decor was exquisite and the coffee prices were fare, so we decided to go over some paperwork while sipping on coffee and soaking up the atmosphere, which included light jazz music that went perfectly with their decor; the decor was a hodgepodge of Victorian seats and wallpaper, nostalgic technology items, and postmodernism, which might sound like a clashing-disaster, but they pulled it off masterfully. Instead of going on about the decor, I'll let you take a gander at my pictures below (pictures are more powerful than words). I couldn't find a fault with this Oromo Cafe location: The coffee was great (which was the case at all their locations), the decor was outstanding, the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming, and the baristas were very friendly. Free Wi-Fi was provided and there were many electrical outlets for charging laptops, tablets, or smartphones--the atmosphere was perfectly suited for solo visitors with electrical devices, not to say that it isn't good for non-solo visitors as well.
Another very important aspect of their coffee that I must convey is the amount of espresso shots that are used: They use four espresso shots for a large cappuccino and three shots for a large latte, which is more than most places. Despite the amount of shots, their coffee isn't too bitter. Upon my seventh visit, I finally did receive a cappuccino that wasn't that great: It was too watered down. It just goes to show that there is still room for error even at a fine establishment. Coffee is only as good as the barista that makes it, and even good baristas sometimes make a mistake.
The Neihu location was their first, it's the only location that I've not visited, but judging from the video I attached at the end of this review, the decor and seating areas look nice. The Oromo Cafe location south of Xinyi Anhe MRT Station (信義安和捷運站) is the most relaxed and perhaps has the coolest decor and atmosphere of all their locations. The Notch location south of Main Station is situated where all the students hang out and is very popular amongst them. It's their largest location with four floors, each providing Free Wi-Fi to ensure a nice Internet connection speed. There is a comfortable seating area on the 3rd floor with a thick rug, shoes must be taken off before entering this little oasis.
