Nantsuttei is another excellent Japanese chain ramen restaurant to have opened up a location in Taipei. I got addicted to ramen while in Japan, so I'm very happy that Taiwanese also love ramen and are welcoming all the Japanese ramen shops that are opening locations in Taiwan; where there is demand, there is supply.

They have some lovely ramen choices: miso pork ramen, darkened garlic oil pork ramen, and creamy crab ramen. The latter being a unique ramen dish that I really enjoyed. The first two ramen choices I listed are available as normal ramen, and as condensed side broth for dipping ramen, both hot and cold noodles. I found the hot noodles for the condensed side broth to be weird because the ramen (noodles) was sitting in plain, hot water. I've never seen this at any other ramen shop. If ramen is going to be in a liquid, I'd prefer it to be in a flavorful broth or dry.

Nantsuttei's braised pork rice bowl was different than other ramen shops because it's a meal all by itself, in that it's big enough and not a small appetizer. I loved everything about it: the braised pork pieces were very tender and flavorful, the slow-cooked runny egg complimented the pork and rice, the delicious sauce that some of the rice is soaked in, and the strips of seaweed.

My favorite appetizer of theirs was the Onsen Slow Boiled Egg & Crispy Dollarfish Green Salad. The slow-cooked runny egg mixed well with the vegetables, but the element that really made this salad a winner was the delicious Japanese dressing -- Japanese make some of the best salad dressings.
