Man Fu Tang 滿福堂餅行 was established on July 8, 1899. It's another excellent, old-time traditional Taiwanese pastry/cake shop in Taipei. Their product manufacturing is inherited from ancient recipes and methods and is still alive in their current creation processes. They follow their heritage and still make their pastries by hand instead of mass production with machines. They've won awards for their pineapple cake.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the items that I purchased at Man Fu Tang and came close to giving them a golden rating. Their pineapple cakes are some of the best, up there with Sunny Hills and ChiaTe. I think it's their number one product. Their matcha pineapple cake is unique and worth trying unless you hate matcha; I'm not a big match fan but still thought it tasted scrumptious. Their mooncakes, sun cakes, and wife cakes are also delicious. To my knowledge, they only have two wedding cakes; the pineapple wedding cake that I tried was top-notch and yummy.
They have a unique product line that I've not seen at other upper-end Taiwanese traditional pastry shops: mochi pastries. I tried all four of them (Taro, Matcha, Red Bean, and Milk) and thought they were all great. They're like mooncakes but have chewy mochi in the very middle of the pastry filling.
Another one of their products that was unique: Rich Milk Mung Bean Paste with Red Beans. I thought it tasted more like a Western pastry because the creamy milk mixed in with the mung bean paste was super rich -- completely delicious! I highly recommend this item of theirs if you like the flavor of rich creamy milk.
