It took me a while to get around to trying Big Boyz Pizza because their hours are so limiting. When I finally got around to trying it, it was worth the wait. It was easily the best Chicago deep dish pizza that I've had in Taipei -- a lot better than Love at First Bite's deep dish pizza. In fact, Big Boyz Pizza is the only authentic deep dish pizza that I've had in Taipei! If you're looking to fulfill your deep dish cravings or you want to try the real thing for the first time, make a visit to Big Boyz Pizza. Be sure to call in advance if you want one of their deep dish pizzas, because it takes them one hour to make them. You don't want to be waiting at the table for an hour, unless you're not starving and want to chat with friends, and possibly drink beer while doing so.
Big Boyz Pizza also has some of the best regular American-style pizza. It's labeled as New York-style pizza on the menu, but it actually isn't NYC-style; instead, it's an authentic American-style pizza that isn't affiliated to any specific American city. They're easily one of the best American-style pizzas that I've had in Taipei.
You might be wondering how a Taiwanese-run place can make authentic American-style pizza. It's because the pizza-maker was schooled at an international pizza school in San Francisco for American-style pizza. That's why Big Boyz Pizza is a one-stop joint for authentic American-style pizza, both deep dish and regular. Be sure to ask them for extra sauce (it only costs NT$20 more) -- this is very important if you're a Westerner or just want it done authentically -- because what you'll get is the normal amount of sauce that would be given in America. The first time I visited them, I didn't know that you could ask for extra sauce and ordered a regular pizza that turned out to still be good, but the staff overheard me saying that there wasn't enough sauce, and I was informed that I could ask for extra sauce next time. I told them that they should always ask Westerners if they want extra sauce when they're ordering, because people aren't going to know about this issue until it's too late, or never and walk away not knowing how good the pizza should've tasted. The next time I tried Big Boyz Pizza and ordered extra sauce, the pizza was much better.
Vegetarian options: 1 Chicago deep dish pizza: Veg Barrel (8" NT$699, 12" NT$1,399). 3 regular American-style pizzas: Funghi Delight (12" NT$389, 18" NT$779), Margherita (12" NT$299, 18" 599), and Vegetarian (12" NT$389, 18" NT$779).
